Barry Bennett is one of the pioneers of surfboard manufacturing in Australia. One of the Brookvale six as they known as. Barry like most started making boards under his house and has been the most prolific of all the manufacturers as he continued to employ most of the best known shapers he could, and also if you were lucky enough like me you got a job after school cleaning out shaping bays and odd jobs. This was a platform to a career in the industry as you got tips off the shapers, glassers, sanders anything to do with making boards.

Barry was also a pioneer of the surfboard material supply company, Dion Chemicals. Barry has been supplying materials all over the world. Barry at the ripe old age of 80, can still be seen at the factory on most days and is still overseeing his son Greg who has taken over the reins.
