112-1-1 Gordon Woods
Gordon woods was one of the Brookvale 6 as they called them. Six of the most influential manufacturers from the early era’s right through until today. Gordon is a genuine guy like most board builders and as they will all tell you they didn’t really set out to make their fortunes or become legends, they just wanted to make surfboards. In an attempt to explain the integrity of these guys and especially Gordon, I bought a stringerless just after this board and we set off up the coast, but on the journey, the car rolled over and smashed my new board. I didn’t have a lot of money and couldn’t afford another board, so Gordon said he would make me another one at cost price and I could pay it off. Bloody gentleman!!!
