The Dukes Board

Welcome to the museumofsurf.com timeline. In this section, we will display boards from the Duke Kahanamoku’s right through time. If you have a board you would like to display or have any information on a board displayed email rob@museumofsurf.com. Aloha

This was the board used by the Duke in the first public display of surfing in Australia. Images courtesy of Freshwater SLSC, where this board is proudly displayed. Australians may have been surfing prior to this, however, this was the first time the mainstream media were invited to witness Duke Kahanamoku a gold medal Olympic swimmer ride this board which was made at a local Northern Beaches timber mill from sugar pine. Aloha.
